Christo & Jeanne-Claude, Texas Mastaba / America: The Third Century, 1975, Paper, Framed
Created in 1975 to mark the bicentennial of the American Revolution, the original poster, titled "America: The Third Century," depicts a conceptual artwork known as the "Texas Mastaba." The "Texas Mastaba" project envisioned the construction of a mastaba made of 500,000 oil drums. A mastaba is a type of monumental tomb from ancient Egypt, rectangular in shape with sloping walls. The artwork features a frame and double-sided glass.
