Early edition Barcelona chairs in black leather, Mies van der Rohe, Knoll International Originally designed in 1926 for the International Exposition, the Barcelona chair was reconfigured in 1950 from a two-part bolted frame to a single stainless steel frame as seen here, Knoll continued production from 1953 to the present, and lists this chair as one of the most recognized objects of the last century.
